Josh Charles : Cure for A Traffic Ticket?

A friend of mine called me this morning to tell me this story:

 She was driving on the highway and got stopped for speeding. The police officer came up to the window and heard my music blaring from her car and started to write her up a ticket. As he was writing, he said who’s this guy to which she said ” this is Josh Charles”.. The police officer said ” i like this” as he proceeded to stand there for ten minutes listening to the CD. Afterwards, he said ” are you friends with him? ” and she said ” yes” and he said ” tell him he has a bright future” . Then he walked back to his car and drove away leaving my friend without even a warning….. so next time you get pulled over, try putting on my CD and see if you get let off with a warning

Monday Night Jam Session Cutting Room

For those of you who don’t know, every Monday night in NYC at The Cutting Room, Richie Cannata hosts the world famous Monday night jam. Last week was my first time playing the jam and I went back again this week. 

   I sat in with the house band which features the amazing John O’ Riely on drums, Gil Parris and Joe Moran on Guitars and George Panos on bass.  Whenever attending a jam session, it’s always good to play tunes that entertain the audience and also the players on stage. My favorite songs to play at these sessions are the good old rock and roll 50′s tunes. We started with my New Orleans-ized version of Stand by Me and I was joined on stage by a host of amazing musicians who sang the backup. The whole crowd was clapping along and it was so much fun playing that after it was done, I called the old Wilson Pickett tune 634-5789. This time, we really got the party started with a nice shuffle groove and everybody clapping and singing along on the chorus. “634-5789! That’s my number!” . I went on stage at 3am and got home around 5am but that’s what being a musician is all about. Thanks to Richie and all the fellas for letting me play. I got to let ya’ll know that i’ll be back next monday about 2am
